Brad Davies: The Shadow of Nikon

1

Not content with generating exposure locally, this morning I took part in a photo shoot for a Nikon commercial to be shown exclusively in China. It was a serendipitous encounter that led to the shoot. Was riding into work this morning and was balanced at the lights in Queen Street waiting for the green. A guy approached me and asked if I wanted to make $100 for 15 minutes work. He wasn’t a pimp, which was my first thought, but instead the director of a commercial. They basically wanted to shoot a cyclist from the 15th floor of a nearby building and they had everything except the cyclist. I agreed and was then told that it was unlikely that my body would be shown – they were really only interested in my shadow. What the hell, I thought, it’s still exposure! 20 minutes later I pedalled off with $100 in my pocket and knowledge that my shadow will be seen by more people than all of Gary Ablett’s kicks…
They’ve promised to send me the images.
