Terra Australis: Day 7

65ms & 1200m climbing
Time: 3.11
Place: Beechworth – Beechworth

Cracking stage to finish – plenty of singletrack, flattish and good racing. Nearly half the course today was on twisty, rocky singletrack at the Beechworth Mountain Bike Park and surrounds, making it a nice change from the wide open fire roads that have punctuated the week. We were a little off the pace again today but it still made for an exciting finish as we were fighting it out with three other teams for most of the day. One of our competitors – Meg Carrigan – was gaining on us towards the end and we had to dig deep to hold them off (which we did). The finish line was in blazing sun which was a fantastic way to end the event.
The presentations and after drinks went on way too long… All in all a fantastic event and I have made some friendships that I hadn’t expected to. Looking forward to spending some quality time with Wynne and Sarah now.
Special thanks to Giant for helping Jess and I get to the start line.
